ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 16, 2023) — Augustana College announces the election of six members of the college’s Board of Trustees. The new trustees were elected October 6 during the college’s fall trustee meeting and will serve a term of four years.

The planetarium, located at 820 38th St, Rock Island, will offer indoor and outdoor programs in the planetarium, observatory, and geology museum. Admission is free.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 10, 2023) The Augustana College Department of Theatre Arts presents “Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy,” October 12-15. The Quad Cities regional premier is directed by Dr Jennifer Popple (below), associate professor of theatre arts and co-chair of the theatre department.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 9, 2023) — Augustana College student Maitreyi Shrikhande, a Pre-medicine and Biology major from Davenport, was named an ALIVE fellow for the 2023-2024 year.

ALIVE, Augustana Leaders in Vocational Exploration, is a residential program that provides weekly discussions prompting fellows to discuss life-long work and live-giving relationships to which they feel called.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 9, 2023) — Can a person – or an organization or college or culture — truly change? That is one of many questions that will be posed at Augustana College’s Fall Symposium Day, Wednesday, October 11. The event includes visiting speakers from across the nation as well as student and faculty presentations on the theme of transformation.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 2, 2023) — A $50,000 grant awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities will study how the records of the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center at Augustana College can be better preserved.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (September 22, 2023) — Augustana College will host Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar Dr Corey DB Walker on Monday, October 2. His presentation will begin at 7PM in Wallenberg Hall, located inside Denkmann Memorial Building, 3520 7th Ave, Rock Island.

The lecture is free and open to the public, and will also be livestreamed.
