The DAAC is looking for creative writers, upcoming and established (ages 14 and up), to contribute to Ruix Zine, a quarterly DIY publication devoted to area and regional literature, arts and music, with a focus on emerging talent.

Content: Includes, but is not limited to, reviews of exhibits, shows, and recordings; promotion of upcoming events; and essays and creative writing (short fiction, poetry)- 2000 word limit. Email your work to bobbuckojr@gmail.com

An evening of storytelling and literature. This event will feature local emerging authors reading from their works, as well as community members taking to the podium to share autobiographical tales. Gallery will also feature art inspired by surrealism and story telling.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 10 The Dubuque Area Arts Collective invites you to free your mind, express your inner self, and tell a story through creativity at our Surrealism & Storytelling exhibition. Art must fit the theme, conveying the artist's interpretation of "surrealism" and/or "storytelling." All forms of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, graphics, digital, performance, installation art, video, etc. are eligible. Submissions are due by October 10. Art drop off will occur from October 12 through 15.

Email digital images of your work to salondbq@gmail.com by October 10 with your name, email, and phone number. If a student, tell us your school and grade level.

For each piece submitted, please include : title, media, size, and price. Attach digital images of each piece (images must be of good resolution).

Artists must be of ages 14 and up.

The Dubuque Area arts collective (DAAC) is looking for upcoming artists and designers to submit to its Digital Art Exhibit that will open on June 13 (902 Main St, Dubuque IA). Exhibit will open the launch party of DAAC's Grain magazine and Ruix zine, both publications champion regional arts and creative individuals. The weekend event (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) will showcase art, music, dance, readings, and more from upcoming and established area artists. This is a great opportunity for young artists to network and present themselves and their work to the art community. Exhibit will run through June and August and it will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 3 to 7pm.

WORK ACCEPTED: Computer graphics, posters, animation, illustration (computer or hand generated), interactive art/installations, animations, digital painting/illustration, photo manipulation, video, vector art, photography, and digital collage.

DEADLINE(S):

EARLY SUBMISSIONS: MAY 12
The first 15 artists/designers who submit will get one of their submitted pieces showcased in the Fall issue of the DAAC's art magazine and website.

LATE SUBMISSIONS: MAY 30
