Bi-partisan pair of legislators from Iowa House and Iowa Senate added to Future Ready Iowa Alliance

(DES MOINES) – Today, Gov. Branstad and Lt. Gov. Reynolds announced that Representative Mary Ann Hanusa (R-Council Bluffs) and Senator Herman Quirmbach (D-Ames) would join the Future Ready Iowa Alliance.  All members of the Alliance will serve until Oct. 31, 2017.

In August 2016, Gov. Terry Branstad, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and other leaders announced creation of the Future Ready Iowa Alliance by signing Executive Order 88.  Executive Order 88 charges the Alliance with developing and recommending a strategic plan by October 31, 2017, to accomplish the Future Ready Iowa goal of 70 percent of Iowa’s workforce having education or training beyond high school by the year 2025.  The Alliance will also determine metrics and benchmarks on a time line to demonstrate progress toward the 70 percent goal.
