West Branch, Iowa— Erin Anfinson will be the 2017 Artist-in-Residence at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site. The Artist-in-Residence Program promotes creative means of communicating the park's national significance and its relevance to park visitors. Anfinson will be in residence during June and the early part of July. She will lead a free public presentation on Saturday, June 24 at 2 p.m. in the Visitor Center.
Erin Anfinson is a visual artist and animator based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She received her BA in Studio Art from the University of Northern Iowa in 2001 and her MFA from the University of Connecticut in 2003. Anfinson is an associate professor of art at Middle Tennessee State University. She also teaches mixed media encaustic (hot wax painting), workshops at Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Anfinson's encaustic works, paintings, and animations have been exhibited in a variety of solo, group and juried exhibitions across the United States.
