SCOTT COUNTY, IOWA (July 18, 2019) —The Scott County Sheriff’s Office employs a Special Response Team (SRT) that is comprised of deputies and supervisors who are on-call 365 days a year to respond to high risk incidents, such as barricaded subjects, high-risk warrant services, searches for armed and dangerous fugitives, hostage rescue, and active shooters. Due to the high-risk nature of the SRT’s duties, additional equipment standards for a higher threat-level of a ballistic vest is required. The vests the SRT employed had expired in January 2017 and funds were not available in the Sheriff’s operating budget to purchase new vests totaling $39,000. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) received $26,000 in grant funds from the Scott County Regional Authority to help purchase updated tactical team protective vests, meeting the most recent standards required by the National Tactical Officers Association.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank SCRA for the $26,000 in funding and their continued support over the years.
