AMES, IA (07/19/2017)-- Students saw agriculture and the life sciences first-hand in several European countries, Uganda, China and Taiwan through various study abroad programs this summer. The Ag Study Abroad Office offers students the chance to select a program based on their interest in the topic and the location. Students traveling abroad this summer included:
Julianna Jespersen, of Rock Island majoring in animal science, participated in "Exploring Ethical Challenges Of Leadership"
Emily Howell, of Walcott majoring in biological systems engineering, participated in "Global Food and Agriculture: China"
Michelle Larsen, of Bettendorf majoring in industrial engineering, participated in "International Industrial/Academic Leadership Experience"
The Ag Study Abroad Office works with faculty members in departments to offer a variety of trips that help students gain a new perspective at locations all around the world. This summer nearly 100 students participated in travel programs facilitated through the office. Through trips offered over breaks in the academic year, during the summer and semester-long exchanges or internships, students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences have been on all seven continents studying agriculture and life sciences.
