On June 13, the 20th-annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Quad Cities will begin at the i wireless Center in Moline. Every year, Race for the Cure draws nearly 8,000 men, women, and children from around the Quad Cities in support of breast-cancer research. The 5K run/walk winds through downtown Moline, looking like a pink tidal wave made up of breast-cancer survivors, family members, and members of the community who support the cause.

Mike SingletaryAppearing locally as part of the Eastern Iowa Community College's Viewpoint Distinguished Speakers Series, Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Singletary takes the stage at the Adler Theatre on April 7.

The current head coach for the San Francisco 49ers, Singletary served four previous seasons with the team as its assistant head coach, and prior to that was the inside linebackers' coach for the Baltimore Ravens.

Sister Helen PrejeanSister Helen Prejean, the author of Dead Man Walking, will speak at the Churches United Delegate Assembly on Thursday, March 26, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 18th and Mississippi Streets in Bettendorf.

A press release states: "Although part of the annual meeting is for its members, the public is welcome to come and hear Sister Helen that evening." Registration starts at 6:30 p.m., and the event begins at 7 p.m.
