Over the next decade, we will be working to create millions of jobs in new and growing industries. Unfortunately, the gap between the skills needed for these jobs and the skills of today’s workforce could leave many of these new positions unfilled. That means hardworking Iowans may lose access to good paying jobs, through no fault of their own.

Each February, we celebrate the achievements of African-Americans in our nation’s history, including many who have hailed from Iowa. In 1986, Congress officially designated February as National Black History Month to commemorate and reflect on all that these brave men and women have accomplished.

Tragically, every day in America, 20 veterans take their own lives. Many of our nation’s veterans face post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other serious mental health issues upon their return home, and these veterans have sacrificed too much to ever feel alone when in a crisis. When these veterans reach out, we as a country owe it to them to answer their call.

As you may know, today, January 23, 2017, is the beginning of tax season. As your Congressman I want to make sure that you know what resources are available to anyone preparing and filing federal taxes.

As the 115th Congress begins, there are many tough issues that we must tackle. In order to best serve Iowa’s Second District, I want to hear from you.
