MOUNT CARROLL, ILLINOIS (June 5, 2023) — This past winter, Timber Lake Playhouse invited local high school art clubs to submit drawings for murals on the wall behind The Lake Stage. Two murals were chosen to for the project. One was a depiction of the Comedy/Tragedy Masks designed by Aden Stallings (above). The second was designed by Allison Duggan of two figures and a microphone “performing since 1961” (below).

MOUNT CARROLL, ILLINOIS (April 14, 2023) Timber Lake Playhouse (TLP), the premier professional summer theatre of northwest Illinois, is thrilled to announce that The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, an “electrifying” (Newsday) musical adaption of The New York Times bestselling novel written by Rick Riordan, book by Joe Tracz, music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki, will open at TLP on May 12 for one weekend.

MOUNT CARROLL, ILLINOIS (September 23, 2022) — Timber Lake Playhouse (TLP), the premier professional summer theatre of northwest Illinois, will continue their Fall Season with Defending the Caveman on September 29 at the Playhouse.  Defending the Caveman was written by Rob Becker over a three-year period during which he made an informal study of psychology, sociology, and prehistory.

MOUNT CARROLL, ILLINOIS (September 19, 2022) — Timber Lake Playhouse, the premier professional summer theatre of northwest Illinois, will host a Fall Festival featuring BrewFest on Saturday, September 24, 12-6PM. The fest will include tastings of craft beers and wines, food, hay rides, and activities for the whole family. BrewFest features the popular craft beers of Lena Brewery and other local breweries.

MOUNT CARROLL, ILLINOIS (August 29, 2022) — Timber Lake Playhouse (TLP), the premier professional theatre of northwest Illinois, will welcome Ted Lange to direct their fall opener, Hank Williams: Lost Highway. “When one of our actors suggested Ted to direct the show, I immediately reached out to him,” said Dan Danielowski, TLP Executive Director. “We talked a few times, Ted’s schedule allowed him to do the show, and the rest — as they say — is history.”

MOUNT CARROLL, ILLINOIS (June 8, 2020)  For the fourth year in a row, the Illinois Arts Council has awarded Timber Lake Playhouse a grant to create a paid apprentice program for area teens interested in pursuing careers in the theatre arts. TLP is accepting applications for the apprenticeship program through June 22.
