Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) opposes a Democratic bill that would make election day a federal holiday. He calls it a Democratic "power grab." Is he right?

The New York Times reports, without questioning the premise, that the bill is "intended to increase voter turnout."

Subzero temperatures are expected to last through the evening, and snow is also likely beginning around noon today, Thursday, January 31. Road conditions could be slick. An inch or more of snow is predicted to fall between 11AM and 11PM. Crews will respond by clearing Posted Snow Routes when the snow starts to fly.

STERLING, ILLINOIS (January 30, 2019) The IDES office, located at 2323 East Lincoln Highway, Sterling, is closed as of 11:15AM for the remainder of today, Wednesday, January 30, due to a power outage and current temperatures in the building.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 30, 2019) The Davenport Public Library's three locations will all close at 5:30PM today, Wednesday January 30. All three locations will also open late tomorrow, Thursday January 31, at Noon.
