Final Performance for the Central DeWitt Performing Arts Center

2015-16 Performance Series

DeWitt, IA – The Central DeWitt Performing Arts Center will finish its 4th season with The Missoula Children’s Theatre performance of THE JUNGLE BOOK on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 with two performances held at 3:00pm and 5:30pm, located on the Central DeWitt High School campus. Tickets will be sold for $5 general admission at the door one hour prior to each performance.

Ever been abandoned in the jungle, adopted by wolves, taught by a bear, befriended by a panther and chased by a tiger? In the Missoula Children’s Theatre musical adaptation of THE JUNGLE BOOK, Mowgli the man-cub has all these adventures and more. Join him as he escapes from the Monkey-People, outwits a tiger, enlists the help of a rock-python, explores what it means to be human and learns a lesson from the brave mongoose Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. Original music and rollicking humor give new life to the classic tale by Rudyard Kipling.

Pre-registration for the week-long rehearsal schedule attracted 56 children, 5 year olds thru 16 year olds. The children represent the surrounding area: DeWitt, Grand Mound, Delmar, Clinton, Welton, Lost Nation, Wheatland, Belleville, Davenport, Camanche, and Monroe, WI. The 56 children will undergo auditions for their part in the musical, 10:00am-12:00pm Monday, June 20th, at the Central DeWitt Performing Arts Center. Children will audition via workshop directed by two Missoula Children’s Theatre directors: Kayliegh Campo, a recent BFA musical theater graduate of the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL and Frank Garcia, Jr. a theater major at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
