MOLINE, ILLINOIS (November 8, 2024) Opera Quad Cities, in partnership with The Black Box Theatre present La Serva Padrona.

Discover the charm that only a comic, light opera can bring. La Serva Padrona is a chamber opera composed by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, first performed in 1733. It is known for its comedic elements and the exploration of social roles, particularly the dynamic between servants and their masters. The opera features a witty storyline that highlights themes of love and manipulation, showcasing the cleverness of the servant as she outsmarts her master. Composed in Italian but sung in English at this production.

This adaptation stars Jon Schrader as Uberto, Shelley Cooper as Serpina, and Evan Gagliardo as Vespone. Direction by Michelle Crouch with set and costume design by Lora Adams and Dianne Dye and light design by David Miller.

The production will run November 14 and 15, 7PM, at The Black Box Theatre, located in downtown Moline. Tickets are $20 and available at theblackboxtheatre.com or at the door.
