CORALVILLE, IOWA (February 13, 2019) — The Iowa Women’s Foundation would like to thank our advocates in the local news community for your commitment to keeping the public informed on issues facing women and girls in our state. As many great journalists reported last year, Iowa’s child care crisis has reached a critical mass and has become a topic that resonates deeply with audiences across the state — it’s also an issue that IWF has vowed to tackle.

We’re often asked about the child care crisis and what progress is being made to combat it. To answer these questions, we’ve put together a fact sheet outlining:

1) The major components of the child care crisis and how they affect Iowans.

2) Helpful facts and statistics related to child care in Iowa. And,

3) What IWF and our partner organizations are doing to combat this issue.

We hope this will come in handy in the coming months as you cover this, and other related issues. As always, if you have any questions that are not addressed in the fact sheet, we invite you to reach out to our organization for answers, quotes, and/or referrals. Please direct your inquiries to dawn@iawf.org or call 319-774-3814.

Thank you for using your talents and your voice to advocate for Iowa’s women and girls.
