MOLINE, ILLINOIS (February 11, 2025) — Auditions for The Black Box Theatre’s 2025 season will take place at the theatre located at 1623 5th Avenue, Moline, Illinois on March 1, 12-2PM, and March 2, 1-3PM.

Auditionees for musicals should audition on Saturday and bring music in their key and be prepared to read from sides that will be provided at the audition. Please bring a photo and resume stapled together. Also, bring any conflicts (vacations, etc) during rehearsal and performance dates. The season breakdown follows:

The Stranger by Agatha Christie (performed as a Radio Play) — Doris West late 20’s to mid-30’s, Mrs Huggins middle aged female, Enid Bradshaw late 20’s to mid-30’s, Gerald Strange late 20’s to mid-30’s, Dick Lane late 20’s to mid-30’s, Mrs. Birch middle aged female. Note: Most interested in the sound of your voice.

Ordinary Days, music and lyrics by Adam Gwon — Multi-cultural casting Warren — in his 20s, Deb — in her 20s, Jason — in his 30s, Claire — in her 30s

Fun Home based on Alison Bechdel’s graphic memoir, music by Jeanine Tesori, and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron. Multi-cultural casting. Four women, two men, two girls, one boy.

The Half Life of Marie Curie by Lauren Gunderson 2 women in late 30’s to mid-50’s. Mild European accents as they have lived all over the continent.

The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse — Characters are in their 20’s — 30’s Logan Female, Jaxton Male, Caden Male, Alicia Female Ethnically ambiguous.

The Lion in Winter by James Goldman — Henry II, King of England (Male, fifty); Queen Eleanor (Female, 61), John (Male, sixteen), Geoffrey (Male, 25), Richard (Male, 26), Alais Capet (Female, 23), Philip II, King of France (Male, eighteen).

Black Box Artistic Director Lora Adams says, “We are delighted to be presenting a season of premieres to our area. As always, our season is open to everyone.”
