On October 30, 2014, at approximately 5:45 p.m. detectives with the Scott County Sheriff's Office took an adult male into custody for allegedly enticing a female minor. The subject was identified as follows:
John Michael Riepe, age 30, a resident of Davenport.
Charge: Enticing a Minor, a class D felony.
Riepe is accused of communicating with an undercover Sheriff's Office detective via text messages who he believed to be a 15 year old female. Riepe communicated with the female minor over a five week period and
made arrangements to meet with the female minor for the purposes of engaging in a sexual act.
When Riepe arrived at a predetermined location in Bettendorf on today's date to meet the female minor, he was taken into custody without incident. Riepe was transported to the Scott County Jail and held on a bond set in the amount of $5,000.00. A photo of Riepe can be obtained at www.scottcountyiowa.com under "Sheriff's JailInmate Listings."
The Scott County Sheriff's Office was assisted in today's arrest by the Bettendorf Police Department and the US Marshal's Office.
The investigation is still on-going and no further information is being released at this time.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed
innocent until and unless proven guilty.
