DES MOINES, IOWA (April 17, 2019) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate honored three state-agencies Wednesday for their assistance with improving Iowa’s election cybersecurity and voter-registration process. Sec Pate gave National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Medallion Awards to the leaders of the Iowa National Guard, the Iowa Department of Transportation, and the Iowa Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 12, 2019) – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate will speak at the kickoff of the 91st Iowa FFA Leadership Conference in Ames on Monday, April 15, at 4PM. The Conference will be held at The Hilton Coliseum, 1705 Center Drive, Ames, Iowa. There, all eligible attendees will be asked to register to vote. Voter-registration forms will be distributed by each school’s FFA advisor.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 10, 2019) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate asks Iowans who receive a “No Activity in 4 Years” mailing from his office to respond quickly. This will avoid having their voter-registration status changed to inactive.

The “No Activity” notices are being sent to voters who have not voted in any election and have not updated their voter-registration information in the past four years. The purpose of the mailing is to ensure Iowa’s voter rolls are up-to-date.

The new process launched this week and is the latest service from the Secretary of State’s Office to be transitioned into the Fast Track system.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 14, 2019) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate applauds Governor Kim Reynolds for streamlining the process for felons seeking to have their voting-rights restored. This week, the Governor’s Office unveiled a new application that is simpler and easier to understand.

“The process of having your voting rights restored by the Governor is not complicated,” Sec Pate said. “I encourage felons who want to vote to look at the process and take the necessary steps.”

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 6, 2019) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate supports an Iowa House bill that would mandate all 99 counties utilize absentee ballot tracking from the US Postal Service. Bipartisan amendments were added to House File 608, including Secretary Pate’s suggestion that implementation take place prior to October 1, 2020.
