AMES, IA (01/08/2015)(readMedia)-- A group of College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) students successfully completed the semester representing the college as a CALS Ambassador. CALS Ambassadors is a highly selective group of students tasked with assisting in the recruitment of new undergraduate students to the college.

Zach Farrell of Le Claire, IA (52753), majoring in Agricultural Studies, served as the representative to the leadership team of the Transfer Committee.

Corbin Uitermarkt of Davenport, IA (52806), majoring in Agricultural Studies, served as a member of the Transfer Committee.

Each CALS Ambassador is expected to serve on a committee within the organization, to devote a prescribed amount of hours volunteering throughout the semester, and maintain attendance and participation requirements. Over the course of fall 2014, the Ambassadors saw 745 prospective students on campus and logged 1,460 volunteer hours.

Governing the Ambassadors is a leadership team who is made up of committee chairs, a representative from each committee, and elected officers which includes a chairperson, vice-chair, and secretary. The CALS Ambassadors are advised by Beth Foreman, Student Services, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

AMES, IA (12/19/2014)(readMedia)-- Gabriel Domingues, Bettendorf (52722), is one of five graduating seniors to receive a senior recognition award this semester. Awards are given by the Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Student Council.

Domingues, a graduate in Agricultural Systems Technology, received the award for Academic Achievement.

The college convocation program will be held December 20, at 9:30 am at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium.

AMES, IA (12/18/2014)(readMedia)-- Kelsey Tope, a event management student in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University, was induced into the Eta Sigma Delta honor society. Kelsey is a senior at Iowa State from Davenport, Iowa

The Events Management and Hospitality Management Programs at Iowa State University congratulated the 27 undergraduate students and 10 graduate students who earned invitations to Eta Sigma Delta membership in fall 2014. Undergraduate students who hold a 3.0 minimum grade point average or are in the top 20% of their class are eligible for this distinction.

Eta Sigma Delta is an international honor society that recognizes exceptional academic achievement among event and hospitality students. Eta Sigma Delta is administered by the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE), the leading international association devoted to event and hospitality education.
