Cinderella at St. Ambrose University -- December 2 and 3.

Saturday, December 2, and Sunday, December 3, 3 p.m.

St. Ambrose University's Galvin Fine Arts Center, 2101 North Gaines Street

An independent-minded heroine, a 1980s-themed Royal Ball, a man in a dress, and a six-foot-three-inch actor playing a character named “Pipsqueak” are among the delights lined up for St. Ambrose University's family production Cinderella, an updated take on the classic fairytale by local playwright Roger Pavey.

The author of numerous productions at Davenport Junior Theatre including the recent Little Red Riding Hood, Pavey will present his new spin on this timeless tale in a two-performance presentation directed by St. Ambrose alumna Kimberly Kurtenbach, who also helmed the university's 2016 family show The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley. Kurtenbach's additional directorial credits for the area have included the Circa '21 Dinner Playhouse's A Year with Frog & Toad and Diary of a Worm, a Spider, & a Fly, plus the David Mamet comedy Speed-the-Plow for her own Curtainbox Theatre Company.

Portraying Cinderella is St. Ambrose senior Megan Clarke, a recent castmate in Picasso in the Lapin Agile who also appeared in the school's The Tempest and The Realistic Jones, and performed in Brighton Beach Memoirs for the Mississippi Bend Players' debut season. Sophomore T.J. Green dons a gown for his role as Cinderella's wicked stepmother, with juniors Sarah Goodall and Halie Osborn respectively cast as our heroine's equally hateful stepsisters Cordelia and Ursula.

Rounding out the cast are Alejandra Acosta, Christian Colmenares, Anthony Duckett, Tyler Hughes, Jessica Karolczak, Kayla Lansing, Ellie Larson, Kendall McKasson, Bryan Woods, and the aforementioned 6'3” Luke Peterson.

Cinderella will be presented at 3 p.m. on December 2 and 3, tickets are $7-9, and more information and reservations are available by calling (563)333-6251 or visiting SAU.edu/galvin.
