Public Notice is hereby given that the Scott County Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing to take comments on a proposed amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for Scott County. The Planning and Zoning Commission will be discussing proposed criteria to be used in reviewing a Special Use Permit for wineries, tasting rooms and associated event centers.

Rock Island, IL – Christian Care is honored to be awarded a Q2030 grant totaling $1570 from the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend.  The Community Foundation created the Q2030 grants to contribute to the Quad Cities’ vision of being a creative, connected, and globally recognized, prospering community in 2030.  In particular, the grant is designed to ensure our region offers great opportunities for everyone to thrive.

A portion of Loud Thunder Road is closed due to the improvements being made on the spillway and dam on Lake George in Loud Thunder Forest Preserve.

The middle portion of Loud Thunder Road will be closed for the duration of construction, expected to be completed mid-December.

One of the zoos oldest residents, Molly, a 35-year-old female Plains Zebra, was euthanized on Monday due to chronic joint and bone issues brought on by her advanced age. The animal was under extensive veterinary care that included chronic pain management for the last two years.

Community can mean a lot of things to different people. To the members of the Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles (QCSYE), it means sharing with others who are in need.

My team analyzed the gender identity and sexual orientation complaints of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission over a 4-year span to reveal which states see the least cases of LGBTQ discrimination.
