Sam’s Club will be donating over $2,500 in pet supplies on Tuesday morning to the Humane Society of Scott County.

“The need for donations increases during the winter months,” said Ryan Wille of the Humane Society of Scott County. “We tend to find more stray animals this time of year. When you feed 300 animals up to three times a day, you run through so much food so this donation is just what we needed for the holidays.”

Lucky the TurfMutt is a former street dog who knows all too well how uncomfortable it is to spend cold days and nights outside. But Lucky was rescued by Kris Kiser, President and CEO of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI).

Also Public Works advises that traffic will be detoured as follows: eastbound traffic will be detoured north on Eastern to Kimberly Road, and westbound traffic will be detoured southbound on Kimberly Road from the intersection of Locust and Middle Rd to State Street.

The Edison Junior High School Leadership Squad, a 4-H Club through the University of Illinois Extension and the 21st Century - Lights ON For Learning programs will be helping to decorate the Milan Animal Shelter on Monday, December 3rd from 3:00-4:00 p.m.  The students will also be bringing toys they made to the shelter. 

Keep Iowa Beautiful will award five $1,000 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors in 2019. Four scholarships will be awarded to students who plan to enroll in an Iowa college or university to study environmental science, community development, landscape architecture or architecture (historical emphasis) or community planning and sustainability are eligible to apply.
