DAVENPORT, IA—In a change from past years, Waste Commission of Scott County facilities will be open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 18. The Commission will be open regular business hours at the following facilities:
• Scott Area Landfill, 11555 110th Ave., Davenport
• Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities, Davenport
• Electronic Demanufacturing Facility, 1048 East 59th St., Davenport
The cities of Bettendorf and Davenport also will collect solid waste that day. Residents of Bettendorf and Davenport whose garbage or recycling collection day falls on Monday should place their carts or bins at their collection point by 7 a.m. Monday to ensure pickup.
In addition, Commission facilities will be open, and Bettendorf and Davenport will collect solid waste, on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 15.
The Scott Area Recycling Center, 5640 Carey Ave., Davenport, continues to be closed for construction; however, the recycling drop-off area remains open and is now accessible from the Carey Avenue entrance. Used automotive fluids, including oil and filters, must be dropped off at the Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facility located at the Scott Area Landfill.
