The Rod Pierson Big Band featuring Craig Boche offers you the sound of today’s big bands, the biggest entertainers from the popular Rat Pack period, and classic instrumental big band hits. The 13-member band plays all the favorites from One O’Clock Jump, You Make Me Feel So Young to Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You and Come Fly With Me.

Rod Pierson has played with The Glenn Millier Orchestra, Jimmy Doresy Orchestra, The Moe Band, Hunter Fuerste’s Vintage Orchestra and the Guy Lombardo Orchestra. Jazz credits include performances with Woody Herman, Natalie Cole, John Pizzarelli, and Ann Hampton Callaway. Rod has also backed artists such as Aretha Franklin, Burt Bacharach, The Temptations, Bob Hope and many more. He has toured with 20 different Broadway Musicals.

Rod is also the Director of Road Sales for West Music and has been servicing school music programs for over 23 years. He holds a music performance degree from the University of Iowa in saxophone performance with Jazz emphasis. Rod serves JEI (Jazz Educators of Iowa) as past President.

Craig Boche (pronounced Boshay), has listened and learned from the voices of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Julie London, Nat Cole and many more. Craig studies their recordings, television appearances, phrases of the lyric, voice inflection, and audience interaction, all to help his sound, look and feel. Craig’s voice has been compared to Martin, Sinatra and Darin’s, however, his voice remains authentically his own.

Before the show, Rod Pierson’s band members will be part of a high school jazz clinic for Central DeWitt’s Swingin’ Sabers Jazz Band One. The high school jazz band will then open the 3:00 performance with a few songs from their competitive season.

Rod Pierson Big Band featuring Craig Boche will be 3pm Sunday, March 13th, at the Central DeWitt Performing Arts Center, located in the Central DeWitt High School campus. 519 E. 11th St., DeWitt, Iowa. For more information visit www.centralperformingartscenter.org.
