Following the Committee on Political Education’s (C.O.P.E.) “Endorsement” in the second congressional district of Dave Loebsack, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) in Iowa and Iowa State Council of Machinists President John Herrig released the following statement:

“Once again, it is my great pleasure to announce that the Iowa State Council of Machinists—with District Lodge 6 and all its affiliated local lodges—is giving its full endorsement to Dave Loebsack in Iowa’s Second Congressional District. Dave has a clear and steady record of standing with working families and fighting to keep, not just Union jobs, but all jobs so very vital to maintaining the middle-class which fuel our economy. We look forward to helping Dave in every way possible to ensure that his bid for re-election is a big success.”

Earlier this year the Machinists voted to endorse Loebsack, however, the IAM traditionally holds off with formal endorsements until after the C.O.P.E. Convention. “It is a matter of respect for the process and the IFL and the important role it serves in the political arena.”
