Davenport, IA – February  2016 –Gilda’s Club is hosting Dr. Cheryl True in a discussion on Lifestyle Medicine on Thursday, February 18th from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at Gilda’s Club Quad Cities (1234 East River Drive, Davenport, IA).

Cheryl True, MD will provide an overview of Lifestyle Medicine; how it is a crucial part of modern healthcare, but often overlooked or neglected due to many factors, such as, lack of time or knowledge on the part of healthcare providers.

She will also discuss research studies related to the impact of chronic disease on our society and what this means for you as a cancer survivor or caregiver. Dr. True will share insights about how to set realistic goals for committing to lifestyle changes- wherever you are on the spectrum of health. A few healthy recipes will also be sampled during the workshop.

Dr. True is a board-certified Family Physician with a passion for Lifestyle Medicine. She is a graduate of Augustana College, the University of Iowa College of Medicine and she did her residency in Family Medicine at the Genesis Family Medicine Residency Program. She was in private practice in a family medicine setting for 10 years before pursuing a Lifestyle Medicine focused practice.

In addition to medical training she is also a certified Wellcoaches-Health and Wellness Coach, a CHIP (Complete Health Improvement Program) Facilitator, and has completed the T. Collin Campbell Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate. She is a group leader for her Heartland Rooted PlantPure Pod group, and has an upcoming Walk With a Doc chapter in the works. She is a member of the AAFP, AMA, ACLM, IMS, and SCMS.
