SERVING THE COMMUNITY AND BEYOND

Another round of $10,000 was awarded to area students to help pay for their college costs as part of the Ascentra Credit Union Scholarship Competition.  There were five $1,000 scholarships available for high school students planning to enter college.  The other five $1,000 scholarships were for members age 19 or over, considered non-traditional or continuing education students. All entries are judged on their essay, resume, awards, extracurricular activities, volunteer services and work experience.  The competition is announced every October with the deadline in March of the following year. Official rules may be picked up at any of our branches or found online at ww.ascentra.org/scholarships.

Thanks to a generous donation from The Ascentra Credit Union Foundation and other donors, Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities broke ground on house #93 located at 1218 Perry St. in Davenport, Iowa on Saturday, June 6th. Fostering community development and investing to enhance the financial viability of the underserved are key parts of the mission of The Ascentra Credit Union Foundation.  These values align perfectly with the work Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities is doing for their latest build.  Ascentra established the fund at the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend to help enhance its charitable giving and further the philanthropic outreach in the region.
