February 8th - 3rd Annual Quad Cities FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) regional qualifier will be held at Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf, Iowa.  24 Teams from Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin are scheduled to participate. Winning teams will be invited to participate at the State of Iowa FTC Championship being held on February 21st and 22nd in Coralville/Iowa City. This event is free and open to the public.  People of all ages will enjoy this face-paced and exciting event which will showcase 7th-12th grade students' ability to design, build and program robots, use teamwork to build alliances and cooperate with other teams, apply creative problem solving to real-world math and science concepts and earn a place in the Iowa State FTC Championship.Opening ceremonies will begin at 11:15 A.M., qualification matches will begin at 11:45 A.M. with semi-final and final matches beginning at approximately 4:30 P.M. A more detailed schedule of events, teams competing and more information can be found at our website, www.qcesc.org. Teams are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. Teams, including coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments.

 

February 10th - LeClaire Community Library - Crazy Colors! Winter got you feeling blue? How about purple, yellow, and green? Join us on Feb. 10th from 4-5pm for some stories, followed by hands-on, colorful experiments and crafts. This program is recommended for ages 3-6, and don't forget to wear old clothes to this event?we expect to get a little messy!

March 1st - Rock and Roll Bingo!  LeClaire Rec Center - Fund raiser for Freedom Rock. Songs will be played and you identify the songs on bingo cards. There will be 50/50 and other raffles.  Event will be hosted by Cody Tucker of B100!  More details to come!

 

March 7th - Buffalo BIll Museum Grand Opening & Ribbon-Cutting 5 p.m. Come celebrate the museum's expanded facility during an Open House (4-7pm) and the LeClaire Chamber of Commerce's Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at 5pm.  It will be a great start of "First Friday" in LeClaire!

TAG: In March, the library will be starting up our very first Teen Advisory Group (TAG)! Join us for our first meeting on March 20th, from 4-5pm to learn how YOU can help the library staff develop services for young adults. By attending you can earn credit towards your services hours, and we serve snacks!
