DAVENPORT, IA—This week and next, Waste Commission of Scott County will present program details and a timeline for the new single stream recycling program in Davenport and Bettendorf.

The Commission will present about the new program and brand, “Go All In,” to Davenport Committee of the Whole April 13, Bettendorf Committee of the Whole April 18, and Scott County Board of Supervisors April 19. The Commission’s board will discuss the program at its meeting April 21.

“The Commission and its partners have been working for two years to bring our new recycling program to life, and we’re almost there. This is a very exciting time in our community,” said Kathy Morris, Director.

The Commission expects the new Scott Area Recycling Center, 5640 Carey Ave., Davenport, to open in late July. Around that time, new, 95-gallon recycling carts will be delivered to homes in Davenport and Bettendorf. City collection of the new carts is set to begin August 1.

The Go All In program will allow residents to recycle additional plastic items (#1-#7, with the exception of Styrofoam and plastic bags) and gable-top cartons, thereby keeping these valuable materials out of the Scott Area Landfill. Come August, residents no longer will be required to sort paper items from containers, and all recyclables will be placed into one large recycling cart with wheels.

Davenport and Bettendorf residents will have the opportunity learn more about the new program in several ways. Residents will receive a postcard in the mail in May. Carts will arrive with a small bag of educational materials—including a brochure and magnet—attached. And after collection begins, residents will receive a second postcard with follow-up information.

All residents are encouraged to visit the new Go All In website, www. goallinqc.org, for its Earth Day launch April 22. They also can like and follow Go All In on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

Waste Commission of Scott County is an inter-governmental agency formed in 1972 whose mission is to provide environmentally sound and economically feasible solid waste management for Scott County. All Commission programs are funded by user fees paid at its facilities, and not through tax dollars.
