Formerly known as the QC Cancer Awareness Ride, the annual Gilda's Club Quad Cities fundraiser Red Door Ride will enjoy its 16th revival on September 16, this beautiful, 3.5-hour, 150-mile beautiful ride along the north Iowa side and south Illinois side of the Mississippi River culminating in a special Rust Belt concert featuring the exhilarating '80s-rock talents of the Spazmatics.

With this year's Red Door Ride beginning at McGrath's Harley Davidson Quad Cities at 11 a.m. following the 9 to 10:30 a.m. registration and 10:45 a.m. "Blessing of the Bikes," the first stop will be at Three 33 at roughly 11:30 a.m., with subsequent stops including at Cajun Jack's Bar & Grill (1:15 to 1:30 p.m. estimated arrival) and Poopy's Pub & Grub (2:30 to 2:45 p.m. estimated arrival). Bikers can then expect to land at the Logger House between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m., with the final stop at East Moline's The Rust Belt between 5 and 5:15 p.m. This fundraiser for Gilda’s Club Quad Cities that help ensure that social and emotional support programs continue to serve individuals and families living with cancer in the Quad City area and surrounding communities, and each stop along the ride will feature giveaways from local sponsors benefiting riders.

Following the ride and a 6:45 p.m. auction, the wild rockers of the Spazmatics will take the Rust Belt stage at 8 p.m. In 1983, the band was formed after Kevin Stigwood, a physics teacher at Alta Dena High in Thousand Oaks, California, lost a debate to a student. As a result, Stigwood performed "She Blinded Me With Science" by Thomas Dolby at the state basketball championship game with the band he formed alongside his brother Curtis, Sidney Baderman, and Rusty A. Woosmeir. Performing covers from '80s-rock classics, the Spazmatics' onstage costumes include bowties, plaid pants, taped glasses, pocket protectors, and short shorts. The costumes are an homage to the film Revenge of the Nerds, and Perfect World Entertainment created a fictional biography for the band members as part of their gigs. Currently, there are Spazmatics lineups based in Dallas, Austin, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Nashville, Tampa, Salt Lake City, Chicago, North Carolina, South Carolina, San Antonio, and New York City.
