Davenport, Iowa - August 2, 2008  - The Figge Art Museum will be holding information and training sessions about current volunteer opportunities and the Docent program at the museum on Tuesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 21 from 10 - 11:30 am. Students and adults who have an interest in community volunteerism or fine arts are encouraged to attend in the dining room

 

Figge docents lead tours of the collection and special exhibitions.  They also present slide programs in area schools, churches, and community centers. Other opportunities include customer service, public relations, library, administrative help and studio activities The session will include introductions to the docent and volunteer programs followed by a question and answer session. 

 

"There is a wide range of opportunities available and everyone can find where they`ll be most comfortable. You can help behind the scenes or out front welcoming guests; you can work with children, adults or museum staff; in the studio, the library or at special events; every bit helps the museum." said Director of Museum Services Jennifer Brooke

Internships are also available per semester in most departments including special events, facility rentals and marketing.
