MOUNT CARROLL, ILLINOIS (July 10, 2023) — Timber Lake Playhouse (TLP), the professional summer theatre of northwest Illinois, will again be holding various workshops and classes in the arts this summer. “I’m very excited to bring see the interest in our summer workshops,” said Executive Director Dan Danielowski. “The variety of classes offered will be of interest to students of all ages.”

One of the most popular of the TLP workshops is the Children’s Theatre Workshop. This summer, TLP will be holding two sessions of the CTW, one on July 15 and on August 12. This workshop is a perfect way for the young artist to shine. The class runs 10AM-1PM and concludes with a ticket to the matinee performance of either Matilda, Jr. or Pig Tales.  The Children’s Theatre Workshop is open to children ages five to twelve.

TLP will run their Kid Detectives and Shake It Out! Sing It Loud! Workshops on July 27 through July 29. Kid Detectives will feature theatre games, improvisation, and acting instruction. Participants will learn about story structure through improve and how to connect to characters.  Shake It Out! Sing It Loud! will see our singers and dancers adding stories to their favorite songs. Both workshops are open to students ages seven to twelve.

The High School Theatre Intensive runs from July 31 to August 4. This workshop is for high-school actors, singers, dancers, and other creatives. Participants will gain the tools necessary to perform on stage and ace college auditions.

On July 22, Timber Lake Playhouse invites your royal Princess to attend our Royal Ball. We will learn a ballroom dance, explore the magical world of Cinderella, Tiana, Sleeping Beauty, Moana, and more, and enjoy a light lunch of "tea and crumpets." TLP encourages your princess to dress up in their favorite ball gown. All ages are welcome! Boys are invited to come as their favorite prince or super hero.

Also available are classes aimed at students as young as three years old. TLP has partnered with The Virtual BabySitter’s Club to give our patrons full access to all artistic and creative virtual sessions for kids ages three to twelve. These sessions are conducted by professional performers from Broadway and beyond in a live, interactive virtual experience.

TLP Reads is a series of books read by Timber Lake Playhouse actors and Teaching Artists. Partner teachers from around the country use these videos as a part of their reading curriculum. The series is also available for parents to use with their children. These books are targeted for primary and elementary reading levels.

Timber Lake Teaches is a series of instructional videos designed to empower the emerging Musical Theatre performer.
