Josh Rojas is first Player of the Week and second Bandits weekly award of 2017

DAVENPORT, Iowa - River Bandits infielder Josh Rojas has been named the Midwest League Player of the Week for July 17 through 23. The 23-year-old hit .435 (10x23) in six games during the week, clubbing three home runs and driving in 11 runs while scoring nine times. This is the first Player of the Week honor for a River Bandits position player this season and second overall weekly award for Quad Cities. Kevin Hill won Pitcher of the Week for the final week of June.

Rojas' premier game of the week came on July 19, when he collected a career-high four hits, including two home runs, and six RBI in a 20-3 win over the Lansing Lugnuts. Rojas drove in ten runs during the three-game series with Lansing to highlight his banner week. Rojas hit safely in five of the six games during the week.

Rojas was selected by the Astros in the 26th round of the 2017 draft out of the University of Hawaii and joined the River Bandits on June 29 and is hitting .296 with eight home runs and 22 RBI in 20 games played as a professional. He also has two doubles and two triples on the season.

Rojas and the Bandits wrap up a six-game homestand Monday at 1:15 p.m. CT at Modern Woodmen Park. The team begins a seven-game road swing with a three-game set in Clinton, Iowa beginning Wednesday at Ashford University Field.
