ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (August 2, 2022) — QCSportsNet.com, the Quad Cities’ provider of live high-school sports play-by-play and Quad City Storm professional hockey, will host a Play-by-Play Workshop this Sunday, August 7, 12-4PM, at Rooster’s Sports Bar and Grill, 2130 3rd Avenue, Rock Island.

“The workshop is a great way for aspiring announcers to get professional coaching and instruction from our panel of experts,” said QCSportsNet owner Ken Jacoby. “Or, for someone who wants to try it out just for fun, it’s a very worthwhile afternoon with a very sports-oriented crowd.”

The expert panel includes (in alphabetical order): Black Hawk Men’s Basketball Coach Kannon Burrage; Illinois State Women’s Basketball play-by-play announcer Greg Halbleib; WRMJ Radio owner John Hoscheidt; newspaper columnist and MC-22 sports commentator John Marx; Quad City Storm team president (and former broadcaster) Brian Rothenberger; longtime sportswriter and broadcaster Steve Tappa; Townsquare Media sales executive Mike Weindruch; and longtime Dispatch/Argus sportswriter Jeff Wendland, as well as the QCSportsNet team of play-by-play announcers.

Participants will enjoy a delicious lunch from Rooster’s, hear from the members of the expert panel, and have the opportunity to interact with them and ask questions. Then, they’ll put on the headset and actually perform simulated play-by-play, all the while being mentored by QCSportsNet’s professional coaches.

The workshop, including lunch, costs $15. Registration information is available at QCSportsNet.com.

QCSportsNet kicks off its ninth full-time season of high-school sports play-by-play with the opening week of football August 26. The network’s second season of live play-by-play of the Quad City Storm begins October 21. For sponsorship information, contact Ken Jacoby at (309) 912-5135 or ken@qcsportsnet.com.
