MUSCATINE, IA – September 2017 –Gilda’s Club is excited to announce a FREE Colorectal Cancer Screening and Prevention continuing education opportunity for physicians, nurses and social workers on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Muscatine. Dr. Suneel Parvathareddy, MD, MS, and Brooke Rugger, PA-C, will provide healthcare professionals with information regarding the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of colorectal cancer to increase prevention and screening awareness and, by extension, patient outcomes. Physicians, nurses and social workers in attendance will complete the following objectives: 1. Identify the most common type of colorectal cancer. 2. Name the ethnic groups at highest risk for colorectal cancer, as well as incidence by gender. 3. Explain how to stratify patients into risk categories. 4. Discuss types of screening methods, prevention and when to refer Iowa and Illinois Nurses and Social Workers are eligible for 1 continuing education hour. This program is made possible by the Iowa Cancer Consortium and the Iowa Department of Public Health. Dinner will be provided at 5:30 pm. The presentation will run from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.
