MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (November 17, 2023) — Monmouth College's Symphonic Concert Band and Chamber Winds will present their fall concert at 3PM, November 19, in the Kasch Performance Hall of Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.

"We are featuring many small ensembles organized by the students," said music professor Justin Swearinger, the College's director of instrumental activities. "They pick the repertoire and who is performing what, and then they have been responsible for their own preparation. So, the music featured will represent a wide variety of styles and the talents of many students."

Throughout the semester, the musicians have been selling raffle tickets to community members for a chance to serve as a guest conductor.

"We will feature the winner at this concert," said Swearinger. "They will conduct John Philip Sousa's 'The Thunderer.'"

The concert will conclude with Gustav Holst's "First Suite in E-flat," which Swearinger said "is one of the most important and foundational compositions ever written for a wind band."
