Savanna…This week, State Representative Tony McCombie (IL-71) joined area superintendents in support of Evidence Based Funding Formula reform, which would provide adequate and equitable State funding for local school districts.

“The Evidence Based Funding Formula is a bipartisan solution allowing every child access to a high quality education.” said McCombie. “Communities that have the largest gap in funding will benefit because they will have more support. The model contains a hold harmless provision that ensures all school districts receive funding at their current levels.”

There is bipartisan support to move to the Evidence Based Funding Formula, a model that determines a funding target for each district, and then taking into account funding inadequacies. Meaning, the State will fund the difference between the targeted funding and the local capacity. The hold harmless provision ensures no district will receive less under the new formula then the current foundation formula.
