What you can expect:
  • Our fully immersive Discovery Dome planetarium will be open with FREE showings throughout the night.
  • Dr. Paul Sipiera, President and CEO Planetary Studies Foundation, will give a presentation about "How and Where to View The Great American Total Solar Eclipse” at 7 p.m.
  • Our friends from the Popular Astronomy Club, Inc. - Quad Cities & Quad City Astronomical Society will have telescopes for solar/night sky observing (weather permitting.)
  • Learn about The Great American Eclipse at our Solar Eclipse Table.
  • Watch a demonstration of a comet being made.
  • See an actual Moon Rock up close and personal!
 
Dream Big: Engineering our World film
During the event you'll also get a chance to watch our new film "Dream Big: Engineering our World" on our GIANT Screen. From the Great Wall of China and the world’s tallest buildings to underwater robots, solar cars and smart, sustainable cities, Dream Big celebrates the human ingenuity behind engineering marvels big and small, and shows how engineers push the limits of innovation in unexpected and amazing ways..
