WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (April 6, 2020) — The 12,000 members of Iowa's military units received $35 worth of coupons good for various pork products from Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation throughout the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020. The sixth delivery of the Pork Care Packages allow us to say "thank you" to the men and women sacrificing so much for our freedom and safety.

"Our troops answer when called upon, whether that be responding to events locally or overseas deployments, and this is just one small way to show them our appreciation," said Jeff Hansen, president and CEO of Iowa Select Farms and co-founder of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation.

Employees of Iowa Select Farms delivered the Pork Care Packages to all units of the Iowa Army National Guard, The 132nd Fighter Wing and 185th Air Refueling Wing of the Iowa Air National Guard, US Army Reserves, US Navy Reserves, US Marine Corps Reserves, and The Veterans of Foreign Wars. Pork Care Packages were also delivered to the Iowa National Guard's Survivor Outreach Services for 600 Iowa families of fallen soldiers.

"Now, more than ever, a homecooked meal is good for the soul. We hope these coupons will help military families enjoy some precious time together," said Jen Sorenson, communications director for Iowa Select Farms.

The coupons can be redeemed at any local grocery store, regardless of brand or cut. They can be used for a variety of pork products, from ribs and bacon to fresh pork.

New in 2019, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation launched Project: Food and Fellowship. The program assists family readiness coordinators, military community volunteers and event coordinators with creating and hosting social gatherings for active duty, reservists, veterans, Gold Star families and all military families. The goal of Project Food and Fellowship is to help enhance or create memorable and enriching experiences for members of our military and build and strengthen relationships within the community.
