IOWA CITY, IOWA (April 25, 2024) — The Huntington's Disease Society of America's (HDSA) Iowa Chapter will once again be hosting their spring Team Hope Walk events.  However, in an effort to unite the state on one day, the Chapter will be holding walk events at five separate locations.

The Iowa Team Hope Statewide Walk will take place in the following locations:

  1. Des Moines Location: Gray's Lake Park & Beach (Main Location)
  2. Indianola Location: Banner State Park
  3. Dubuque Location: Heritage Trail, Heritage Pond
  4. Audubon Location: Audubon High School
  5. Iowa City Location: Coral Ridge Mall, Coralville

All events will take place on Saturday, May 4, with registration starting at 9AM. All participants and supporters that join us will also be treated to a day of fun, music, food, entertainment, prizes, and more! This includes the opportunity to learn more about Huntington's disease and the vital work being done by HDSA. All proceeds will support HDSA and its mission.

Team Hope is HDSA’s largest national grassroots fundraising event, which takes place in over 100 cities across the US and has raised more than $26 million for Huntington's disease since its inception in 2007.

Thousands of families, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and communities walk together each year to support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by Huntington's disease and their families.Huntington’s disease is a fatal genetic disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and is often described as having ALS, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's disease all at once. Today, there are approximately 41,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at risk of inheriting the disease.
