Free Educational Workshop for to Help People Better Manage Side Effects Clinton, IA (December) – Gilda’s Club will host Frankly Speaking About Cancer: Treatments and Side Effects – a free workshop for people cancer patients and their caregivers. Designed to help people understand and manage the physical and psychological side effects of treatment, the workshop will take place on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, from 6:00 to 7:300 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church (439 3rd Avenue South). Speaker Wendy Ballou, RN, BS, OCN, CCM, will shared strategies to manage treatment side effects such as fatigue, hair loss, anemia, infection and pain. Participants will learn how to manage emotional distress and optimize quality of life during and after cancer treatment. “As people live longer with cancer,” said Melissa Wright, Program Director, Gilda’s Club Quad Cities, “effectively managing the physical and psychological effects of treatment is increasingly important to improving quality of life.” Advance registration is preferred but walk-in attendees are welcome.
