Mother Son Dance

Mother Son Formal Dance

Sunday, March 25 -

Take a night to slow down and spend time with your special "guy" at our Mother Son Formal on Sunday, March 25th at The River Centers Mississippi Hall.  This is a wonderful event to have some quality time spent having fun, dressing up, and dancing.  Couples will be treated to a dinner buffet, crafts, dancing, and a chance to win prizes for only $40/couple; $20 each additional child.  A professional photographer will be available to take couple's photos.  Moms can be grandmas, aunts, or step-mothers.  Best of all, mom does not have to clean up the mess!

 

St. Patrick's Dance

Friday, March 16 -

All persons with developmental disabilities are invited to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by putting on the green and "cutting the rug" to music that is bound to get up your Irish.  The dance will be held on Friday, March 16th at the Herbert Goettsch Community Center, Bettendorf from 6-8:30pm.  The $4 admission fee, payable at the door, includes dinner.  This event is sponsored by the Davenport and Bettendorf Parks and Recreation Departments, HDC, New Found Hope, Community Care Inc., New Choices Inc., and Vera French Pine Knoll.

 

Kindernature - Mammal Mayhem

Tuesday, March 13 -

Kindernature is a nature program for young children ages 3 to 5Kindernature Girl which enriches awareness and appreciation for nature. Each class focuses on an environmental theme includes a story, hands-on activity, craft and themed snack. Class fee is $6 per child.  An adult must accompany the child. Registration is required and class size is limited to 20 children. Each class begins at 10am in the Vander Veer Conservatory. During Mammal Mayhem participants will learn about common mammals in our parks and ones not so common through hands-on activities and an interactive lesson on March 13th.

 

March Family Fun Nights

Are you looking for a low cost way to spend QUALITY time with your family?  Davenport Parks and Recreation heard this need and has responded in a way that is sure to appeal to ALL members of the family.  We have developed a rotating schedule of activities at our various facilities to offer families a night full of FUN!  Sept-March you can count on spending the night from 6:00-9:00 and we will take care of everything for $2.50 a person pre-registered (you must register each family member attending over 2yrs old). $4.00 per person at the door.  For Family Friday, parents or guardians need to accompany their kids.

This month's activities are:

  • March 2: Spring Surprise - Come Join Davenport Parks and Recreation from 6 PM- 9 PM at Vander Veer Botanical Park Conservatory to take in the beauty of spring. Plant up a spring plant for additional $3, can pay on site. There will be pizza available for $2.50 a person which will include two slices of pizza and lemonade.
  • March 9: Family Movie Night at Junior Theatre, 2822 Eastern Ave Movie is "Space Jam".
  • March 23: Family night at Roosevelt Community Center

 

Junior Theater CampDavenport Junior Theatre's Spring Break Performing Arts Camp

Junior Theatre is proud to offer this unique adventure! Students collaborate on the creation of their very own script, while exploring improvisation, musical theatre, make-up, and the life of a professional actor. Students travel throughout Davenport Junior Theatre, learning about props, costumes, and lights.  Everything ends with a performance for family and friends on Friday afternoon from 4:00 - 5:30 PM. Join us as we provoke your child's imagination like never before!

Camp begins Monday, March 12

Fee: $150.00 ($25.00 Early/Late Pick-Up)

Ages: 6 - 13

  • Students should arrive 10 minutes early
  • Early Drop off 7:30am - 8:30am / Late Pick-Up 4:00pm - 5:30pm: Additional Fees Apply
  • Guardian should come with student on first day to fill out Medical Release Form
  • Students must be signed in and out by guardian
  • Any student missing more than one day may not be included in showcase
  • FREE Showcase will be Friday, March 16 from 4:00pm - 5:15pm (parents & friends welcome)

Come on out and skate while you enjoy live local bands and DJ's. All ages welcome!  Admission:  $10/Person, $3/Skate Rental, Saturday, March 3rd from 9pm-11pm, Band: Surface Tension.

River's Edge School Out Adventure Spring Break Camp

Davenport Parks and Recreation's Adventure Camp and River's Edge Sports Camps are combining to offer camps on ALL School out Days, including In-Service, School Breaks and snow days!  These days will be filled -playing games, doing crafts, taking field trips, and spending time with friends!  We have highly qualified staff that will keep your child active and safe while also providing enriching experiences with a focus on all sorts of sports on our turf and ice skating.

School Out Days run March 8 - 20th from 7:30-5:30 at the River's Edge utilizing the wonderful facilities such as ice skating and Centennial Park, with all its wonderful amenities: spray park , basketball court, skate park, and playgrounds. Each child needs to bring a water bottle and sack lunch, wear socks and gym shoes, bring warm clothes to ice skate, PM snacks will be provided.  The cost for the camp is $30/day or 20 percent off for registering for more than 2 days.

A soccer youth clinic will be held on Sunday, March 18th! A bus trip to the Fire home opener will take all participants, who will be ON THE FIELD for warm-ups.

Mom and Me Skate at the River's Edge
Friday, March 30 -
Kids grab your skates and hit the ice with your mom on Friday March 30th from 6-8pm! Show her how you cut up the ice and have a great time skating to the latest hits while stopping for pizza for the low, low price of only $10.

The Spring Baseball Special is here at the Rivers Edge!

Batting Cages, Pitching Mounds, Hitting Stations and plenty of open turf. All you bring are bats and balls and the rest is up to us. Only $50 an hour for March and April.

 

Spring Adult Leagues are starting very soon!

Softball, Soccer, Kickball, Volleyball, Basketball leagues will be available. Click "Online Catalog and Registration" and follow the instructions.

Intro To Tae Kwon Do for Ages 11+ at The River's Edge

This 4-week introductory session meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 8 sessions; March 6-29.  It is designed for the more serious athlete but is still guaranteed to be fun and enhance the mind/body connection!  Ages 11 and above are welcome.  The art of Tae Kwon Do is an exceptional mind and body work-out and a great enhancement to an active lifestyle.  Participants who are interested in testing at the conclusion of the session will be required to purchase a Do-Bok - details to be reviewed in class.
Instructor:  Ethan Dixon, a second degree black belt, has been training for seven years and teaching for three.
Fee:  $90.00  Classes repeat every month and students advance at their own pace.
