Robinson to be reserve catcher for the Midwest League Western Division

DAVENPORT, Iowa – River Bandits catcher Chuckie Robinson has been named a Midwest League All-Star. The league office announced Wednesday that Robinson has been added as replacement to voted starter Andrew Knizner of the Peoria Chiefs, who was promoted by the St. Louis Cardinals this week. Mario Feliciano will be the starter for the Western Division, previously voted as the reserve catcher. Robinson joins fellow Bandits All-Stars Yordan Alvarez, Carson LaRue, and Enoli Paredes for the 2017 Midsummer Classic on Tuesday, June 20, at Dow Diamond, the home of the Great Lakes Loons, in Midland, Michigan. A third-generation professional catcher, Robinson is hitting .271 this season with a team-high 32 RBI and six home runs on the year in 43 games. Robinson has 14 multiple-hit games on the year and holds a .310 batting average (13x42) with runners in scoring position this season and leads the River Bandits with 13 doubles on the year. The Danville, Illinois native was selected by the Astros in the 21st round of the 2016 draft out of the University of Southern Mississippi. This is the second professional All-Star honor in as many years for Robinson, who was named a New York Penn League All-Star in 2016.
Robinson and the Bandits finish up their final home series before the All-Star break Wednesday and Thursday, with a pair of 6:35 p.m. CT games against the Cedar Rapids Kernels. The Bandits enter Wednesday night 2.5 games out of a first-half playoff spot. For tickets, call (563) 324-3000, visit riverbandits.com or stop by the box office at Modern Woodmen Park.
