DAVENPORT, Iowa – The River Bandits knocked off the Peoria Chiefs 3-2 on Tuesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Cristian Javier twirled 5.2 shutout innings for Quad Cities. Kristian Trompiz delivered a walk-off fielder’s choice in the ninth.

The Bandits (33-18, 70-49) used four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 0-0 tie. Josh Rojas singled up the middle to grab the lead. Chas McCormicks infield single made it 2-0 Bandits. Peoria (27-24, 57-63) used an RBI groundout from Evan Mendoza to cut the lead in half in the eighth. Ryan McCarvel tied the game with a solo homer to right. In the bottom of the ninth, Max Almonte allowed back-to-back one out singles and intentionally walked Wander Franco to load the bases. Trompiz hit a ball to third where Evan Mendoza picked it up, recorded a force at third and threw to first late, allowing the winning run to score.

Javier took no-decision, despite tossing 5.2 shutout innings, extending his scoreless streak to 10.2 innings. Jesus Balaguer earned the win for the Bandits. Balaguer (4-0) tossed 1.1 perfect innings, striking out three of the four he retired. Max Almonte took the loss. Almonte (2-4) pitched 1.2 innings and allowed the winning run. 

Game three of the four-game series is Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. RHP Carlos Sanabria (4-3, 4.41) toes the rubber for the Bandits. Jake Levy and Connor Onion have coverage beginning at 6:20 p.m. on 1170 AM KBOB and riverbandits.com.
