Forrest Whitley throws 4.2 no-hit innings in shutout win

BELOIT, Wisc. - The Quad Cities River Bandits shut out the Beloit Snappers, 4-0, at Pohlman Field Sunday afternoon. Forrest Whitley did not allow a hit while striking out seven in 4.2 innings and Daz Cameron and Taylor Jones each homered in the win. The Bandits are now five games above .500 for the first time this season and keep pace at one game out of a playoff spot with seven games remaining in the first half of the season.
The River Bandits (33-28) got on the board in the first inning after Carmen Benedetti walked and Yordan Alvarez singled, an error allowed Benedetti to score from first with the game's first run. Cameron's homer came in the fifth inning, a two-run shot, for his first long ball since April 28 and fifth of the season. Jones led off the seventh inning with a homer to extend his hitting streak to six games. Jones now has four home runs on the season including two on the seven-game road swing.
Whitley fanned seven in 4.2 innings of work while walking four. With the pitch count at 90, he was pulled from the game one out shy of qualifying for the win. Salvador Montano (1-1) pitched the following 3.1 innings of scoreless ball to get the win, allowing two hits and a walk. Kevin Hill struck out a pair in the ninth, stranding two runners in the ninth inning to cap off the fourth shutout of the year for the River Bandits and second on the road, their first since April 11 in Peoria. Mitchell Jordan (1-6) suffered the loss for Beloit (30-32) allowing three runs on three hits - including Cameron's home run - in six innings of work.

BANDITS OFFENSE ROLLS AGAIN IN 13-5 WIN

Quad Cities scores in double figures for third time in last six games

BELOIT, Wisc. - The Quad Cities River Bandits scored seven runs over the last two innings to pull away with a 13-5 win over the Beloit Snappers Saturday night at Pohlman Field. The River Bandits (32-28) are now four games above .500, matching their best record of the year when they were 15-11 back on May 5. Daz Cameron had three hits and a trio of RBI in the win while Carmen Benedetti launched his second homer of the season. Every River Bandit reached base multiple times with the team matching a season-high nine walks drawn in the contest plus a pair of hit batters.
The River Bandits scored double digits for the eleventh time this season and third time in their last six games. Three separate innings saw the Bandits load the bases against Beloit (30-31) pitching and twice the team batted around in the contest. Ronnie Dawson got the scoring started with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the first inning.
The Snappers answered with a two-out rally culminating with a three-run homer from Edwin Diaz in the bottom of the first inning. The Bandits took the lead for good with a four-run third inning. Just two hits in the inning did the damage, including a two-run double from Cameron, thanks to four walks and a hit batter in the inning.
Cameron drove in another run with a double in the fifth before Benedetti broke the game open with his three-run homer in the eighth. Both of Benedetti's home runs this season have come against Beloit. Nine Bandits hit in the ninth inning, plating four runs for good measure. Taylor Jones had a single in the game to extend his hitting streak to five games, his longest of the season.
