ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (December 18, 2023) — Augustana College junior Niah Tyler, of Silvis, Illinois (61282), presented at the annual American Geophysical Union, AGU, meeting in San Francisco. The event, held December 11-December 15, is attended by more than 25,000 attendees from 100 countries.

According to AGU, conference attendees include scientists, educators, policymakers, journalists, and communicators who convene to "better understand our planet and environment, opening pathways to discovery, opening greater awareness to address climate change, opening greater collaborations to lead to solutions, and opening the fields and professions of science to a whole new age of justice equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging."

Last summer, Tyler landed a coveted research experiences in solid-earth science internship. The experience included installing seismometers for earthquake detection in New Mexico on their first day in the field!

Tyler's National Science Foundation sponsored geophysical research throughout the summer helped to better locate motion along subsurface faults.
