Augustana College junior Niah Tyler in New Mexico interning this summer on a geophysical research program in New Mexico with RESESS (Research Experiences in Solid Earth Science for Students

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (June 16, 2023) — Augustana College junior Niah Tyler, a Geology major from Silvis, IL, is interning this summer on a geophysical research program in New Mexico with RESESS (Research Experiences in Solid Earth Science for Students).

RESESS is funded by the National Science Foundation, NASA and the US Geographical Survey. It is dedicated to increasing the diversity of students entering the geosciences.

Tyler recently explored San Lorenzo Canyon, installed seismometers, and conducted shallow seismic experiments to locate subsurface faults.

This summer more than 180 Augustana College students are engaged in summer internships, with students interning in twenty states and eight countries.

Known for sparking passionate curiosity, Augustana College is an empowering home to explore over ninety areas of study.
