The 32nd Annual Quad City Youth Conference welcomes Cambridge High School and it’s presentation of “Fallen,” a play based on a young woman who takes her own life and the reactions of students, friends, family, and teachers in the aftermath. The play captures the attention of audience members as they find themselves either relating to the young woman who takes her life, to the students who bullied her, or possibly to the parents or teachers in her life. “Fallen” was written by Tom Akers, Superintendent of Cambridge School District, and is performed by Cambridge high school students and staff.
“Fallen” will engage students from across the Quad Cities and surrounding areas in a one-hour interactive keynote presentation on both Wednesday and Thursday, February 22 & 23, 2017 at 8:45 AM. Following the keynote presentation, the Quad City Youth Conference also offers students a choice of three workshop sessions. Nearly 16 different community agencies have come together to offer workshops to enhance decision-making skills necessary for living in a socially complex world. In addition, students will also be able to visit a Community Fair, where they can learn about area programs and agencies as well as education and job opportunities.
More than 700 students from Illinois and Iowa high schools, junior high schools and youth agencies are expected to attend this 2017 edition of the Quad Cities Youth Conference – junior high school students on Wednesday and high school students on Thursday.
The Quad City Youth Conference is the only event of its kind in the Quad Cities and one of the few nationally. For 32 years, local schools and human service agencies have joined hands to plan and present the annual Quad Cities Youth Conference, an event that is focused on positively impacting area youth.
