Amasa Hines at the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel - September 11.

Monday, September 11, 8 p.m.

Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel, 304 East Third Street, Davenport IA

Based in Little Rock, Arkansas, the touring musicians of Amasa Hines will perform a Moeller Nights concert steeped in the band's unique blend of soul, Afro-beat, psychedelic, blues, dub, and indie-rock stylings.

Called one of “12 Arkansas Bands You Should Be Listening to Now” by Paste magazine, Amasa Hines was formed in 2010 boasting Joshua Asante on vocals, guitar, and keyboard; Judson Spillyards on vocals and guitar; his brother Joshua Spillyards on drums and percussion; Ryan Hitt on bass and keyboards; and Norman Williamson on saxophone and keyboard. With cited influences including artists as varied as John Coltrane, Mos Def, and the musicians of My Morning Jacket, the group released its debut album All the World There Is in 2014, and received the Reader's Choice award for “Best Band in Arkansas” as designated by the Arkansas Times.

Amasa Hines' 2016 highlights included performances at the SXSW and Newport Folk Festivals, and the band's September 11 concert at the Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel will find the musicians performing locally three days after set at the Codfish Hollow Barn's Garp 2017 festival.
