· Back for a second collaborative album, this Tuesday Jello Biafra & the Melvins release Sieg Howdy! on Biafra's Alternative Tentacles label. With intriguing song titles such as "Those Dumb Punk Kids (Will Buy Anything)" and "The Lighter Side of Global Terrorism," the new CD promises new rants from the Dead Kennedys founder and an updated recording of the band's classic "Kalifornia Uber Alles" for the Schwarzenegger populous. More treats include a cover of Alice Cooper's "Halo of Flies," remixes by Ministry's Al Jourgensen and Deaf Nephews, and guest guitarist Adam Jones of Tool.

· Blues legend Buddy Guy has rounded up a new gaggle of guests on next week's Jive Records release of Bring 'Em in. I'm excited to hear what he and Carlos Santana will do with a cover of Screaming Jay Hawkins' monster hit "I Put a Spell on You," and eager to listen to Tracy Chapman's helping hand on Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine." Other guests include Keith Richards, Bernie Worrell, Keb' Mo, and John Mayer.

· National Public Radio is getting pretty hip with its "All Songs Considered" concert series. This coming Tuesday the radio network will Web-cast the White Stripes live from the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. Opening acts M. Ward and the Shins are included, as well. Other recent concerts available on the NPR site (http://www.npr.org) include Kings of Leon, David Gray, and Lucinda Williams.

· Elvis Presley gets a new spin on two of his classics with next week's release of the original soundtrack to NBC's Las Vegas. Alongside tracks by Esthero, Cowboy Troy, Fatboy Slim, and The Pussycat Dolls, the Image Entertainment CD features a JXL remix of "A Little Less Conversation" and Wayne Newton & the Legion of Doom's spin on "Suspicious Minds." Other highlights include a new take on Kool & the Gang's "Ladies' Night" with Sean Paul & Spanner Banner, Tom Jones & the Stereophonics' salute to Three Dog Night's "Mama Told Me Not to Come," and the Isley Brothers mixing it up with De La Soul and D-Nat on "It's a New Thing (It's Your Thing)."
