DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 19, 2021) Prior to our current pandemic, nearly 20% of people experienced some form of mental illness. Now that we are in the middle of it, mental health challenges have affected even more people. Unfortunately, most of those affected by mental illness either delay seeking help, often for years, or not at all, primarily due to the stigma associated with it.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 19, 2021) — Cure the winter blues and join us for a virtual book discussion on Wednesday, January 27, 6:30PM. We will be discussing The Library Book by Susan Orlean. Copies of the book are available at our Eastern Avenue curbside location for patrons to borrow for this book club. This program will meet virtually using GoToMeeting.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 19, 2021) — Beginning today, the Davenport Public Library’s Eastern Ave (6000 Eastern Ave) and Fairmount St (3000 Fairmount St) branches will reinstate limited library services, including in-person browsing for 30 minutes per day. The 30-minute browsing time can also include the use of the Library’s fax machine, scanner, and copier.

Over 8 weeks beginning January 19, 2PM, we'll talk about visible mending and practice several mending techniques. Some examples include felt patches, boro patching, sashiko stitching, weaving, applique, and reverse applique.
