MOLINE, Ill. (January 2, 2015) - Josh Brittain's second goal of the game broke a 2-2 tie with just 1:55 left in the third period and the Missouri Mavericks (14-13-5) went on to defeat the host Quad City Mallards (16-11-5) 4-2 Friday night.  Despite the defeat the Mallards remain in second place in the ECHL's Central Division.

Brittain scored the game winner from the right point and set the stage for Chris Crane to score the clinching empty net goal with just over a minute remaining after the Mallards had battled back from 2-0 down to tie the score.  Mario Lamoureux pounced on a rebound for the equalizer at 9:34 of the third.  The Mallards first got on the scoreboard when Antti Pusa buried Justin Fox's centering pass at 14:26 of the first period.

The Mavericks built their 2-0 lead with first period goals from Brittain and Jared Brown.  Brown's drive from the top of the left wing circle opened the scoring at 6:56 of the first.  The Mavericks were on the power play when Brittain doubled the advantage from the doorstep at 11:29.

WICHITA, Kan. (January 3, 2015) - R. G. Flath broke a 2-2 tie with 4:30 left in the third period and the host Wichita Thunder (16-10-5) held on to edge the undermanned Quad City Mallards (16-12-5) 3-2 Saturday night and move into a tie for second place in the ECHL's Central Division with the Mallards.

Flath scored the game's first even strength goal off a give-and-go with Danick Gauthier to cap off a third period Thunder rally.  The Mallards entered the third on top 2-1 but that lead disappeared when Kenton Miller tipped in Wichita's second power play goal and the fourth of the game at 2:16 of the third.

The Mallards had forged in front with successive second period man advantage goals.  Joe Perry tied the game at one by rifling the puck in from the left wing circle at 7:36 of the second.  The Mallards took the lead when Todd Fiddler- who assisted on Perry's goal- pounced on a rebound at 15:34.

The Thunder was up 5-on-3 when Ian Lowe one timed the opening goal from the high slot at 17:56 of the first period.

The Mallards dressed just 14 skaters Saturday evening due to injuries and illness.

The Mallards next play at home next Wednesday evening at 7:05 p.m. against Wichita.  Fans can purchase four tickets to each Mallards Wednesday home game this season for just $20.  In addition, after each Wednesday home contest, fans can join the Mallards at T.G.I. Mallards Hold Off Beast 4-3

MOLINE, Ill. (December 27, 2014) - Logan Nelson scored twice, Jeff Lee provided what proved to be the game winning goal in the third period and Parker Milner made 29 saves as the host Quad City Mallards (14-9-5) defeated the Brampton Beast (8-15-1) 4-3 Saturday night.

Lee scored from the left wing circle at 8:59 of the third to expand what had been a one-goal Mallard lead to 4-2 and trigger the replacement of Brampton starting goaltender Trevor Cann by Grant Rollheiser.  Lee's goal loomed even larger after Calin Wild one timed Stephon Thorne's centering feed past Milner and cut the gap to 4-3 with just over four minutes remaining, but the Mallards would hold off Brampton the rest of the way- even after the Beast pulled Rollheiser for an extra attacker.

Nelson twice gave the Mallards the lead in the first period.  Nelson's blast from the top of the right wing circle opened the scoring just two minutes and 12 seconds into the game.  Tyler Donati cut in front of the Mallard net alone to even the score at 12:28 of the first.  Nelson put the Mallards back on top with a another drive from the right wing circle at 16:40.

At 10:31 of the second period Pearce Eviston gave the Mallards a two-goal lead for the first time by swooping through the right wing circle and firing the puck home on the short side.  Mathew Maione's rising backhander trimmed the Quad City advantage to 3-2 at 15:58 of the second but the Beast never could produce an equalizer.

Mallards' Rally Falls Short Against Beast

MOLINE, Ill. (December 28, 2014) - Chad Painchaud scored twice and added an assist, Calin Wild provided what proved to be the game winning goal in the third period and Grant Rollheiser made 32 saves as the Brampton Beast (9-15-1) survived the host Quad City Mallards' (14-10-5) comeback bid to claim a 4-3 victory Sunday night.

Wild jammed the puck in from the doorstep at 3:49 of the third to give Brampton a 4-1 lead.  Wild's goal proved vital after the Mallards scored twice in 14 seconds to cut the gap to 4-3.  Jeff Lee crashed the net and scored the Mallards' second goal on the power play at 4:48.  At 5:02 Mario Lamoureux's wrist shot from the left wing circle narrowed the Brampton lead to one, but the Mallards were unable to complete the rally

The Beast took control with three straight second period goals after the Mallards' Nicholas Rioux opened the scoring by rifling in a power play goal from the left wing circle at 5:03 of the second.  Painchaud tipped in the equalizer at 7:02 and scored the tie breaker just 30 seconds later from the slot.  Tyson Fawcett's wrist shot from the right wing circle stretched the margin to 3-1 at the 12:24 mark and led to Parker Milner replacing Evan Mosher in goal for the Mallards.

## Quad City Mallards ##

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (December 22, 2014) - Justin Fox, Joe Perry- who also scored in the third period- and Jeff Lee- who provided the deciding goal- scored in the shootout as Quad City Mallards (13-9-5) outlasted the host Missouri Mavericks (12-12-1) to claim a 4-3 shootout win Monday night.

With their second victory in a row and fifth in six games the Mallards took over sole possession of second place in the ECHL's Central Division.

The Mallards had to battle back from 1-0 and 2-1 shootout deficits after Josh Brittain and David Rutherford converted in the first two rounds for the Mavericks.  Fox and then Perry deadlocked the shootout, setting the stage for Lee to give the Mallards the lead in round six and for Quad City goaltender Evan Mosher (30 saves) to clinch the win by denying Andrew Courtney, the sixth Missouri shooter.

The shootout provided an appropriately dramatic conclusion to a roller coaster evening.  After Perry broke a 2-2 tie by snapping the puck past Maverick goalie Maxime Lagace from the slot at 10:16 of the third period it briefly seemed the Mallards might be on course for a regulation win.  However, just 43 seconds later Courtney scored the goal that would force overtime and- in the end- the shootout with a deflection from the doorstep.

The Mallards had first moved in front in the second period.  Quad City battled back from a 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 lead with goals 40 seconds apart from Logan Nelson and Todd Fiddler in the middle frame.  The Mallards were on the power play when Nelson tied the game from the slot at 4:45 of the second.  At 5:25 Fiddler's wrist shot from the left wing circle put the Mallards on top.  The Mavericks rebounded when Brittain jammed in a power play equalizer at 8:44.

The Mavericks' Evan Vossen tipped in the opener at 4:20 of the first period but that goal proved to be just the start of the fireworks.

Monday night also saw Mallard captain Darren McMillan play his three hundredth game for the club.

The Mallards next play at home Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. again against the Brampton Beast.

Tickets for all remaining Mallards regular season home games- including Saturday night's contest- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000.  The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.  Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.

MOLINE, Ill. (December 17, 2014) - Logan Nelson and Matt Duffy both had a goal and an assist, Yannick Christensen piled up three assists and the host Quad City Mallards (11-8-5) jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead on the way to a 4-1 win over the Brampton Beast (7-12-1) Wednesday night.

Nelson wristed in the first of three Mallard power play goals from the left wing circle just 2:05 into the game.  At 15:19 of the first Todd Fiddler broke in behind the Brampton defense to double the lead.  Mike Monfredo converted a Mallard two-man advantage and stretched the gap to 3-0 with just 25 seconds left in the opening period by snapping the puck home from the right wing circle.

The Beast used the power play to get on the scoreboard for the first time at 14:43 of the second period.  Matthew Maione's wrist shot from the blue line trimmed the Mallard lead to 3-1.  The Mallards responded with yet another man advantage goal of their own.  Duffy's blast from the left wing circle capped off the victory at 12:07 of the third.
